World Startup Report is coming to Manila on April 3 to 13. World Startup Report aims to document and connect the world startup community through visiting and learning about the startup cultures of 36 cities in 29 countries.
I have known Bowei Gai and his ventures through the introduction of Chris McCann, the Co-Founder of Group Tie and StartupDigest. Chris and Bowei are good friends. Chris informed me that Bowei would be visiting Manila in connection with his project, the World Startup Report.
The World Startup Report is self-funded by Bowei Gai. He is a Silicon Valley entrepreneur and was the former founder of CardMunch which was already acquired by LinkedIn. Bowei is a great entrepreneur. His 2011 report about China’s startups became a big hit on the internet. This big success inspired him even more to pursue his World Startup Report mission. This is also Bowei’s way of helping the world startup community through delivering news and updates about the diversifying startups in the world.
His trip to 36 cities in 29 countries emerged from that inspiration. In fact, he has already begun his journey last January 1. During his trips, he had come to learn about the vast startup cultures. His travel will last until September 2013 where he will be traveling in Singapore last. After his great ventures, he will share among the startup community on the findings he got. Bowei will publish slides, videos and interviews so that everyone will be able to see his World Startup Report.
This project is also supported by Dave Mcclure of 500 Startups and Brad Feld of TechStars. Dave and Brad are both experienced and well known entrepreneurs. For the World Startup Report to be successful, it aims to meet the following goals. The first one is through documentation of the world’s startup ecosystems which include the local culture, trends, key players and challenges. And the other one is through connecting with local startup activists for the purpose of becoming the ambassadors of each world startup ecosystem.
Bowei will not be alone during his travel tours. He has a competent traveling team who are also accomplished Silicon Valley entrepreneurs. Also, several other volunteers help the World Startup Report in meeting their goals. With that, we are all excited to meet up with the World Startup Report team and also help spread their mission. WebGeek also has its shares of helping other startups to accomplish their mission.
