His company, CPE FOCUS PTE LTD is based in Singapore. It has been providing cloud based technology solutions in the MICE industry since 2010. EventNook is their front runner cloud based technology solution, which is an online event registration and ticketing platform. Developing EventNook was greatly inspired by his participation in Founder Institute Singapore, a startup incubator program.

Kyaw just came up with a solution and started doing customer discovery and development. He also attended several events to find partners and prospects. Fortunately, he got to know a customer from Founder Institute contact who is willing to pay for registration system for their upcoming conferences. And that’s how he got started with this project, EventNook.

EventNook is a platform is designed to empower even organizers to set up an online event registration page, and start selling tickets online. This powerful online event registration and ticketing platform is just a few clicks away on the web, and event organizers can immediately set up an event. Your event, be it large scale or small scale, EventNook can handle everything for you. Kyaw and his team’s goal are to really make the event simple and easy with an efficient and cost effective registration and ticketing tool for everyone.

Launching the company has also made Kyaw to learn important lessons. According to him, consistent delivery and regular progress on one’s immediate milestones is very important regardless of doing solo or with a team. “It’s really delivering many small milestones in line with vision or the purpose of the company. Where there is a progress, the company will evolve on what customers and users want,” Kyaw emphasized. He is also inspired by Mark Zukerberg’s words – Keep shipping, keep focus. He also added that we need to be humble because we will need a lot of help even from the people we don’t know in the first place.

When asked about his views regarding the Philippines’ tech scene and It’s potential, Kyaw doesn’t really know much about it yet. However, his gut has been telling him that the Philippines has a great deal in terms of good size of population with internet savvy and good English speaking people. He also views the Filipino people as very social in both online social media and even in the real world community. “I think Philippines market will be a good start for those consumer based startups targeting to Asian Market,” Kyaw added.

Kyaw’s works are inspiring to all developers, so he had left some pieces of advice. He greatly supports developers who are building a project they truly love since they can live with it.

“Don’t need to start with a grand plan. Instead, launch it quickly to test your assumptions, iterate, optimize and evolve.”
According to him, your first project will be more of the experiments and learning process rather than making a big success overnight. And once you have launched your first project, the better ideas will soon come at you.
